Soho Loft is an interior renovation of a cast-iron New York City loft. With a strong nod to brutalist architecture, the main open loft space is maintained exposing the cast iron columns. The bathroom presents a unique design condition which began with the careful selection of a rare quartzite stone. The design evolved with a focus on sharp geometry to define the vanities, storage areas, and shower zone. The rich stone is softened by custom lighting and both the plaster walls and brass fixtures pick up notes of the stone’s oxidation. While executing a high level of design, the bathroom is also highly functional. The main bedroom introduces a deep green carpeted floor surface contrasted by dark wood stain and a custom resin light fixture.
